About Husk Design
Husk Design is a Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne based window furnishings business owned by Sharon Kerekes, an Interior Consultant with over 30 years of experience in interior design and window furnishings. Sharon studied Interior Design before specialising in custom-made, bespoke window furnishings, and has created interiors for clients across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.
The name Husk symbolises the outer layer that protects and enhances what’s inside — much like the husk of a seed. It reflects Husk Design’s approach to window furnishings: creating solutions that protect and elevate the heart of your home while adding beauty and style.
Yes. Sustainability is a core value for Husk Design. When choosing supply partners, they prioritise those who share a commitment to minimising environmental impact, from using sustainable materials to sustainable manufacturing processes, aiming to create stylish and functional window treatments that are as kind to the planet as they are beautiful in your home. One such partner is Verosol. Verosol lead the industry in this field.
Products We Offer
Husk Design offers a full range of custom-made window furnishings, including curtains (sheer and blockout), blinds (Verosol cellular/honeycomb, pleated, Roman and Verosol roller blinds, including Verosol Silverscreen high performance fabrics), shutters, and external blinds such as zip screens.
Sheer curtains are lightweight and softly filter natural light while maintaining daytime privacy, creating a warm, airy feel, softening the space — ideal for living areas and bedrooms. Blockout curtains use thicker
fabric to block out light, reduce external noise and improve insulation, making them well suited to bedrooms and media rooms. The two can also be layered together for both softness and functionality.
Husk Design offers a range of heading styles, including Wave fold (also known as S-fold or Ripple fold), Pinch pleat, Inverted pleat, Pencil pleat and Gathered.
Husk Design supplies Verosol Cellular (Honeycomb) blinds, Verosol Pleated blinds, custom-made Roman blinds and roller blinds, each available in a range of fabrics, including Verosol Silverscreen fabric for energy efficiency. These come in a large range of colours and operating systems, including cord, cordless and motorised options.
Yes. Verosol Cellular (Honeycomb) blinds are available in 25mm and 45mm cell sizes. Their honeycomb structure traps air and acts as a natural insulator, helping regulate indoor temperature, reduce energy bills, and keep rooms cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
Yes. Husk Design’s roller blinds are proudly made in Australia, supporting local manufacturing and communities, and are available in sheer, light-filtering, blockout and high-performance metallised fabrics such as Verosol Silverscreen.
Shutters are highly durable and are typically crafted from materials such as timber, Polymer or aluminium. They’re tailored to fit any window size or shape and offer excellent control over light and privacy, along with improved insulation, noise reduction and easy cleaning. Shutters can be used in an internal or external application.
External blinds, such as zip screens, protect the home from outdoor elements and help keep it cool by preventing the sun from reaching your windows. They’re ideal for enclosing patios, balconies or verandahs, creating a stylish, comfortable outdoor living space that can be enjoyed year-round while retaining your view and natural light.
